Inspired by musical composition Rhapsody in Blue, veteran designer Giorgio Armani dedicated his fall/winter 2019 line to the color blue.
The new collection creates a luxurious Italian style with a spotlight on impeccable tailoring and textiles such as applied velvet. The fashion house’s usual sleek, elegant and tailored looks are presented in dark tones and mixed with black.
Slender silhouettes dominate the womenswear pieces.
Highlights include round collar short jackets lined with different shades of blue, black trousers – slim or voluminous, almost jodhpur-like – with buttons, as well as pencil jackets and shiny blousons.
Tie dye-like and abstract prints, knotted details and asymmetrical collars stand out on pieces. A selection of evening jackets are decorated with sparkling sequinned florals.
For men, signature suits are made of extremely soft fabric, including sheepskin and cashmere.
Distinctive items include double-breasted blazers, parkas and anoraks, made with midnight blue velvet for a touch of luxury.
In an unusual mix of formal and casual styles, denim-effect suits and trousers are matched with color-block shirts.
