The Etro Spring/Summer 2020 collection is an elegant take on its usual bohemian style. With plentiful patterns and a color palette of beige, off-white, olive greens and mellow yellows, the new collection uses light yet luxurious fabrics such as washed cotton voile, kaftan, silk and velvet.
In addition to the house’s signature paisley motifs, the womenswear also employs Berber stripes, tribal embellishments and ikat dyeing techniques inspired by Isla Mujeres, Tangier, Ibiza and Goa, retreats favored by hippies in the 70s.
Delicate embroidery, patchwork, jacquard, sequins and metallic threads can be seen throughout the collection.
The top look goes to the silk chiffon dress decorated with paisley prints and microfloral patterns and embellished by fil coupe lurex flowers, as its asymmetric hemline gives a quirky charm.
Another eye-catching item is the shorts with floral embroidery and sequins. Meanwhile, artisan ponchos and maxi cardigans use textured featherweight fabrics punctuated by metallic fringes.
The menswear takes inspiration from the Thar, Gobi, Sahara and Chihuahua deserts, adding a nomadic vibe to the elegance and charm.
For example, whether paired with a patchwork shirt, jogging trousers or a vintage scarf, the leather bomber with a desert oasis print perfectly expresses the brand’s adventurous spirit.
