The big trends in spring and summer womenswear are light fabrics, unisex and leather.
Light and soft fabrics such as silk and gauze, paired with detailed designs, can be seen all over seasonal collections by Fendi, Chloe, Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino, offering variety for the fashionista.
Fendi’s Vichy organza dress has micro-patterns in beige and white, the colors constrasting with its georgette under-dress. The loose-tailored Valentino silk dress pairs ruffled hems with draped sleeves, and Chloe – always one for romantic styles – has added a slit and pleats to its flowy silk mousseline dress.
Unisex tailoring is also big this season. Blazers feature prominently in the new collections by Alexander McQueen, Chloe, Salvatore Ferragamo and Stella McCartney. The Alexander McQueen Endangered flower lace jacket and cigarette pants feature feminine details in the sharp tailoring, giving a romantic vibe, while the contrasting lapels on Stella McCartney’s double-breasted jacket add sartorial style.
Leather continues to be popular despite the warming weather. It is found in shorts, jumpsuits and outerwear by Loewe, Diane von Furstenberg, Salvatore Ferragamo and Valentino, and can be matched with a variety of styles.
