Dutch fashion house Viktor & Rolf’s debut at The Swank is offering a look at its avantgarde designs through an exclusive pop-up of its archival haute couture pieces – nine, to be exact – that show off the house’s Renaissance jester-inspired craftsmanship.
If this whets your appetite for haute couture, you can get more affordable versions from the Viktor & Rolf Tulle 2021 spring/summer collection, which takes its cue from the haute couture spring/summer 2021 Patchworks collection and is also available at The Swank.
Although it is a ready-to-wear series, haute couture touches can be seen in the feminine flowing silhouettes, delicate tulle and ruffles and accurate asymmetrical cutting.
The oversized shirt dress summarizes the brand’s design language: the upper section is a patchwork of polka dots, stripes, plaid and denim, while the bottom features a three-tiered white tulle hem.
The subtle design of the point collars on both the front and back makes for a second look.
The sleeveless V-neck patchwork dress is almost identical to a haute couture dress, but not as dramatic, making it a perfect everyday piece. Various floral prints suit the seasonal vibe, while the orange and white tulle adds a quirky charm.
